Your student will work with BodyVox’s outstanding roster of professional dancers and teaching artists including BodyVox Artistic Director, Ashley Roland. Students will develop their dance technique and expand their imaginations as they move their bodies and explore the connection between dance, rhythm, music, and creativity.
DANCE CAMP: JUNE 19-23, JUNE 26-30
Classes and activities are tailored to four age groups:
Blue (3-4) June 13-14, (4-5) June 20-24, Red (5-6), Yellow (7-8) and Green (9-10).
Each day will feature a selection of BodyVox’s camp curriculum classes, such as stackrobats, repertory, and art class followed by snack time and lunch (lunch and snacks not provided by BodyVox). Throughout the week students are introduced to more specialized dance movement forms and vocabulary.
Camp curriculum may include the following classes:
• Global Dance (movement traditions from around the world)
• Stackrobats (acrobatic dance)
• Repertory (learning choreography)
• Jazz (jazz dance styes and technique)
• ImproVox (dance improvisation)
• Yoga (traditional & student created poses)
• Hip Hop (hip hop style and technique)
• Visual Arts
Fridays will feature an afternoon Student Showcase for friends and family.
Blue and Red Group Camp Showcase 12:30-1:15pm
Yellow and Green Groups 1:30-2:30pm
As an option, after the morning camp session, students can participate in Afternoon Adventure. This group will experience the wealth of art and culture in Portland with planned field trips and activities. Every 2-3 children will be chaperoned by an adult. *Students must be enrolled in the morning session of Dance Camp to enroll in Afternoon Adventure.
DANCE CAMP: AUGUST 7-11
Join us for a special camp session exclusively for 3-6 year olds. August Dance Camp features three dance classes each day. Friday will feature a showcase for friends and family at 11:30am.
